Town welcome Step 3 Biggleswade Town to The Rec In The FA Cup

Its a huge day for everyone involved for everyone at Harleston Town football on Saturday as we welcome Biggleswade Town to The Rec.

Not only is it a big day for the club but its a big day for the Town as this will be not only the furthest we have got in The FA Cup but Biggleswade Town will be the highest ranked team to ever visit The Rec in a competitive game.

Back in 2007 Towns first team narrowly missed out on relegation to The Anglian Combination Division 5 which at the time would have been Step 12 so the rise of the football club has been fantastic.

Craig Trudgill achieved 3 promotions between the years 2010 and 2013 to set up Towns rise and since then the club has never looked back and if you would have said to any Harleston Town follower 10 years ago that we would be competing in the first qualifying round of the Fa Cup you would have thought they were bonkers.

But we are here and in all honesty we have nothing to lose with the visitors of course being clear favourites to win being the higher ranked side. However, Town will know better then anyone that going into a game where you are the strongest team in a cup tie is all too familiar. Town were knocked out of the Norfolk Senior Cup by Watton United who were three divisions below so Town need to use that as encouragement going into this game.

Biggleswade Town achieved promotion to the southern premier division after winning their respective league last season and we look forward to welcoming them.

We are inviting all the people of the Town to come to the game and show your support, a lot of hard work goes in behind the scenes to make these great days possible which also brings in footfall to the Town with the visitors expecting themselves to bring a big support.

Town will be without Pride, Anema, Hipperson, Crisp, Ebbage, McGeachy and Smith.

Kick Off is at 3PM at The Rec and we encourage you to get to the ground nice and early as we are expecting car parks to be full.

Please consider local residents when parking around the ground.
