Town drop points at home to Soham in uneventful game at The Rec

Town drew 0-0 at The Rec against Soham Town Rangers. Town were looking to carry on their good league form after wins against Brantham and Great Yarmouth but it would be fair to say in todays game they never really got going.

Town again adopted a 4-4-2 formation with Hide and Stone leading the line whilst Olly Ebbage fresh after his goal on Wednesday kept his place at the heart of he defence with Cook.

Ady Musasa got a well deserved start at Right Back and performed really well there.

Town started on the front foot and the first 15 minutes was very intense from Town. Within 3 minutes Town created their first opportunity when Hide headed over from a Robbie Turner delivery.

Nathan Stone then found himself through on goal but he mis kicked his finish and Town failed to make the early pressure count. Harrison Hide was causing all sorts of problems with his pace and power through the channels but again Town did not really create anything meaningful.

The visitors had their first effort on the 20 minute mark as the number 11 was set free down the right hand side only to see his effort comfortably saved by Elliot Pride in the Town goal.

Town had to way till over the half an hour mark before creating their next chance, Josh Durham played a fantastic ball through to Panashe Mundawara but Panny couldn't steer his effort goalward.

Robbie Turner had Towns first effort on target when he forced a really good save by the Soham Keeper after good work by Stone and Cawcutt.

Cawcutt then had a snapshot after a good cushioned lay off by Matt Cook but he fired over with around 5 minutes before the break.

Half Time came around and to sum it up Town huffed and puffed within the first 20 minutes but apart from that they had one real decent opportunity which was Turners well saved effort.

The second half was a complete stalemate and was a classic case of 2 teams cancelling each other out. It would be unfair to say a lack of quality because both sides possessed danger in the final 3rd but the defending by both teams at times was excellent.

Town had the first opportunity of the half which was more a half chance as Hide headed over from a Barber long through. The visitors best chance of the game cam around the 70th minute mark when the number 7 flashed a shot come cross passed Pride but thankfully for Town no one was on the end of it.

Town did have a big penalty appeal just after that when Cawcutt looked as though he was tripped by the Soham full back as he was the wrong side of Cawcutt but the claims were soon waved away. From my position I couldn't personally see but knowing our penalty record we would have probably missed anyway.

Harrison Hide had Towns best chance of the game on 85 minutes. He chased the ball down and did all the work to find himself through on goal but the Soham Town keeper stood strong and made a super 1 on 1 save.

Full Time came and whilst its 3 unbeaten in the league, Town will be disappointed to not only take 3 points but create more chances on goal.

It was one of those afternoons from a neutral you remember in a hurry.
