The first team hit Brantham for 6 whilst the reserves lose at top of the table Sprowston A

Nathan Stone hit a hat-trick today as there today proved there is still life in the old dog yet.

At the age of 39 Stone is still Towns best contributor and has been a fantastic servant for the club since signing in 2017. I would probably need a few essays to write about what its like to watch Gangles play, also a lot of defenders (top ones as well) always say he is the toughest opponent they have faced.

Todays visitors were a very young side and I must first of all give them a great compliment that they had never gave up and also looked to try and play on the front foot. Town started the far brighter and could have easily been ahead in the first few minutes after Asa Mcgeachy's shot was blocked on the line by the Brantham defence.

Quite soon after in quite a frantic opening the visitors then had the best chance to open the score line which saw the Brantham forward get in behind the Town defence by Pride stood very strong and saved well one on one. McGeachy was very much involved in the early chances and it was him who had another chance to open the scoring, after good work in the midfield by Pickess, Asa was played in only to see his attempted lob go straight into the keepers hands.

McGeachy then had another effort saved well by the Brantham keeper as Town were pressing for an opener.

Then the opener came halfway through the fist half after great work down the left hand side from Barber and Jerry they found Rob Turner in the box who slotted away to give town a deserved lead.

Turner then turned provided with 4 minutes again with great work with the lively Barber saw his cross go into the box to be finished brilliantly by Stone. The visitors then did have another great chance to reduce the deficit and the number 7 blazed the ball over.

There was some frustration between the town players as at times you felt that it was too easy for the visitors to get beyond town and despite being 2-0 to the good you could sense slight frustration. That frustration however soon went after a beautiful goal by Rob Turner, a well won flick on by Jerry saw Turner through on goal who didn't only keep his composure but also round the goalkeeper and tuck it away just before half time.

Town started the 2nd half strongly and Stone nearly doubled his tally after great work by McGeachy down the right hand side. Stone then had another effort saved by the goal keeper after yet another great cross by Turner. Stone then header just over after a great cross in from Barber.

Then a familiar face returned much to the delight of the Harleston faithful. Aedan Oliver who was a pivotal figure in the promotion to step 5 in the 2021/2022 returned to town after a travelling spell and capped off his return to The Rec with a very well taken goal.

Town were then taking advantage of a tiring Brantham and soon made it 5 when Stone doubled his tally to make it 5 with a really well taken volley.

Stone then completed his hat-trick after good work by Jamba say Stone head into an empty net which capped off a brilliant afternoon for the striker.

Final score was 6-0 and the Cornerstone Man Of The Match was Nathan Stone closely followed by Brandon Pickess.

The reserves good run came to an end today as they were defeated 5-2 by Sprowston A who are already league champions. Goals from Jack Bettison and Bradley Hunt.

Its a huge game for The Reserves at the Rec on Wednesday as they look to fight for a promotion spot against local rivals Earsham who themselves have had a bit of a revival.
